BBN Labs — Better Business Network

Tourism & Hospitality

BBN Labs helps tourism businesses get found, booked and reviewed. That means direct online booking, websites built around seasons and itineraries, and photography that does your location justice. Review systems keep working while you host. Projects are screened against tourism and digital adoption programs across Canada, from federal streams to regional initiatives. Program rules and intake timing always apply.

Pain points

What tourism business owners tell us

The season is short and unforgiving

A few peak months carry the whole year. Every empty room, tour spot or tasting slot in season is revenue that cannot be made up later.

Platform commissions on every booking

Booking platforms bring discovery but take a cut of each reservation. Without a direct booking path, there is no way to grow the share you keep.

The decision is made before arrival

Visitors compare options online long before they travel. Dated photos or a clunky website lose them to the next listing.

Reviews pile up exactly when you are busiest

Peak season generates the most reviews and questions across Google and travel platforms. That is precisely when nobody has a spare minute to respond.

Frequently asked questions

Can we cut our dependence on booking platforms and their commissions?

You can usually shift a meaningful share of bookings to your own site over time, though platforms remain useful for discovery. The pattern that works: a fast booking engine on your own website, better photography than your platform listing, review follow-up that links to direct booking, and repeat-guest email. We will be honest about how quickly that shift tends to happen for an operation your size.

What tourism funding exists in Canada right now?

Tourism programs tend to run in defined intakes through provincial bodies, regional tourism organizations and federal agencies, and they open and close frequently. Some support digital projects, others experience development or capital work. Rather than quoting a list that may be stale next month, we screen your project against what is currently open and link every match to its official source so you can verify status yourself.

Our season is short. When is the right time to do this work?

The off-season, almost always. Websites, booking systems, photography planning and review systems should be live and tested before your first peak weekend. Launching during it is too late. A typical pattern is scoping in the late fall, building through winter, and going into the season with everything running. Photography of peak-season experiences gets scheduled during the season itself for use the following year.
