BBN Labs — Better Business Network

Funding disclaimer

Applies to all funding content on this website

Independent-provider disclaimer: BBN Labs Inc. is an independent service provider and is not affiliated with the Government of Canada, any provincial government, municipality, utility, funding agency or program administrator. Programs may change, close, exhaust their budgets or apply only to certain businesses and expenses. Final eligibility, approval and reimbursement decisions are made solely by the applicable program administrator.

Before starting work: Do not purchase equipment or begin work solely based on this website. Some programs require pre-approval, an executed agreement, quotations or other documentation before work begins. Confirm the applicable rules with the official program administrator first.

What BBN will never ask for

BBN Labs will never ask for your online-banking password, credit-card number or Social Insurance Number to release funding, never ask you to open a new bank account to receive it, and never charge a fee to unlock a grant — governments do not charge you to apply. We don't take payment by gift card, wire transfer or cryptocurrency, and no genuine program phones to say you've already won funding you never applied for. If we contact you, it's because you asked us to.

Signs of a grant scam: an upfront fee to release money, a promise that approval is certain, a request for your banking login or SIN, pressure to act immediately, or a demand for payment by gift card, wire or e-transfer. If in doubt, report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

What our screening means, and what it doesn't

"Potential match," "may qualify" and "possible fit" mean exactly what they say: based on the answers you gave and the program data we hold, the opportunity looks worth investigating. They are never a statement of eligibility, approval, or entitlement. Your project may match one or more opportunities. BBN Labs will review your information and contact you with possible next steps. This is not a funding approval.

How we keep funding information honest

  • Every program record links its official source, the only authority that matters
  • Every record shows when we last verified it; unverified drafts are clearly flagged
  • Exactly one support type per record; a repayable loan is never described as a grant
  • Known exclusions are listed (sign-type rules, designated areas, pre-approval requirements)
  • Stale records lose their specific claims until re-verified
  • We never auto-submit applications and never claim affiliation with any administrator

Programs change faster than websites

Budgets run out mid-cycle, intakes close early, rules get amended. If a decision rests on a number you read here, confirm it against the official source first, and we're happy to help you do exactly that.

Program names and official sources

Program names and trademarks belong to their respective owners. We name programs only to describe the funding we can help you find and apply for — this implies no endorsement, affiliation or partnership. Every program page is our own plain-language summary, not the official text, and links to the official source, which is always the final word.
