BBN Labs — Better Business Network

Salons, Spas & Barbershops

BBN Labs helps salons, spas and barbershops fill chairs more predictably. That means online booking that reduces no-shows, review and loyalty systems, refreshed signage and interior photography. It also means a website that books while you work. We screen each project against digital adoption and customer-experience programs that may apply, subject to program rules. So you know what could help pay for it before you spend a dollar.

Pain points

What salon owners tell us

No-shows are unrecoverable

A chair sells time, and a missed 2 pm appointment cannot be restocked or resold at 4 pm. Without reminders and policies, no-shows quietly tax every week.

The phone interrupts the work

Booking by phone means stylists stop mid-service to answer. Callers who reach voicemail often just book wherever answers first.

Rebooking is left to chance

Most clients run on a natural cycle of weeks between visits. Without prompts and easy rebooking, that rhythm depends entirely on their memory.

Instagram is strong, the basics are weak

The portfolio lives on social media while the Google profile, reviews and booking path lag behind. That loses the clients who search with intent instead of scrolling.

Where to start, in order

  1. 01

    Book while you work

Online booking with reminders, deposits where appropriate and stylist-level schedules. It takes the phone out of the middle of every appointment.

  2. 02

    Keep clients on rhythm

Rebooking prompts, loyalty and well-timed review requests turn a good first visit into a standing appointment and a public reputation.

  3. 03

Match the outside to the work inside

Signage, photography and a sharp local search presence so the salon looks the way the work deserves.

Frequently asked questions

Will online booking actually reduce no-shows?

It usually helps, though no system removes them entirely. Automated reminders by text or email, clear cancellation policies, and optional deposits for high-value appointments each reduce the chance a chair sits empty. We set these up to match how your salon already works, including stylist-specific schedules and service durations, and we will not overstate what any tool can deliver.

We get most clients from Instagram. What are we missing?

Instagram is good at showing your work but weak at capturing people who search with intent, like 'barber near me' or 'lash extensions' plus your town. Those searches go through Google, where your profile, reviews, photos and booking link decide who gets the appointment. Keep Instagram. The fix is connecting it to a booking path and a Google presence that converts the demand you have already earned.

Is there any funding that applies to salons?

Sometimes. Salons with a physical storefront have fit within retail and digital adoption programs in several provinces, and training support may apply when you are developing staff. Availability, criteria and budgets change between intakes, and approval decisions rest entirely with each program administrator. We screen your project against what is currently open and tell you plainly if nothing fits right now.
