Product and Market Development Program — Agri-Businesses
Get up to $30,000 back for expanding your agri-business markets or products in PEI. This is a cost-share reimbursement, so you pay first, and the 2026-2027 intake is currently closed. Verified against the official source on July 3, 2026; applications are closed right now and we watch for reopening.

How much you'd realistically get
Up to $30,000 per year for producers and businesses (covering 50% of eligible expenses); up to $30,000 for industry organizations (covering 75%). Travel expenses are capped at $5,000 lifetime for businesses and $10,000 lifetime for organizations.

- Exploring new or emerging markets
- Attending a trade show (not exhibiting)
- Developing new products, including recipe development and packaging design
- Feasibility studies related to product delivery
- Marketing plan development activities
- Consulting services for market research and value chain development
What's excluded or restricted
- Meal expenses (including hospitality and hosting of events).
- Replacement of old equipment.
- In-kind contributions (including wages and labour).
- BRM-type activities.
- Normal and on-going operating and maintenance activities.
- Activities that do not provide a direct benefit to the Sector.
- Local branding initiatives that could result in or lead to competition with another province or territory (assessed case-by-case).
- Activities related to aquaponic food production, aquaculture, seaweed, fish, and seafood production and processing (except international marketing and traceability activities for fish and seafood).
- Activities which provide tax credits or rebates.
- Development and enforcement of regulations.
- Exhibiting at trade shows (only attending is eligible).
- Expenses incurred prior to the submission of an approved application.
How applying works
Effort: moderateYou must prepare a 1-2 page project proposal with a budget and timeline, plus maintain detailed records of all paid invoices for reimbursement.
- 01Review the current program guidelines on the PEI Department of Agriculture website.
- 02Complete the Application Form – General.
- 03Prepare a 1-2 page Project Proposal including a cover page, executive summary, objectives, timeline, results, Sustainable CAP outcome, budget, evaluation, and communication of support.
- 04Submit the completed application package via email to PMD@gov.pe.ca (include program name in subject line) or via regular mail to the PEI Department of Agriculture at 11 Kent Street, PO Box 2000, Charlottetown PE C1A 7N8.
- 05Wait for approval before incurring any expenses.
- 06Upon project completion, submit a claim form, copies of paid invoices with verification of payment, a project report, and copies of material produced to receive reimbursement.
