Ottawa Heritage Property Grant Program
Get up to $10,000 back to restore your heritage storefront in Ottawa. This is a matching cost-share, so you pay for the work first and get reimbursed after inspection. Note: this intake is currently closed, so monitor for the next one before planning. Verified against the official source on July 2, 2026; applications are closed right now and we watch for reopening.
How we verify funding records →
“The maximum heritage grant is $10,000, for small-scale buildings, and $35,000 for large-scale buildings subject to the availability of funding.”
Before you spend a dollar
Get the city's approval BEFORE you start work or buy anything — starting early is the #1 way owners lose this funding.

How BBN Labs helps
- BBN coordinates qualified masonry trades for exterior repointing and restoration, preserving your building's historic character, aligned with the city's heritage guidelines.
- BBN coordinates partners for window and porch restoration, aligning work with heritage guidelines to support your matching grant claim.
- BBN guides you through the application and documentation process, keeping you on track with deadlines so you don't lose the funding.
What to know before you count on it
- Cost-share: you pay for the work first, then the city reimburses its share (about half) after it's done and inspected.
- Apply and get approved BEFORE you start any work or buy anything — starting early disqualifies most of these.
- Designated heritage buildings, Ottawa. Confirm your address qualifies before you spend.
- Your building must be designated/registered under the Ontario Heritage Act (most ordinary storefronts won't qualify).
- Municipal funding is limited each year — confirm money is still available.
What are your odds?
Area-gated and funding-limited, but a straightforward fit if your Ottawa address qualifies and you apply before starting.
What you can combine it with
May combine with provincial/federal programs for the same project — we'll check what stacks.
